The international IARCS (International Association of Research into Chromatic Science) Retinal Degeneration Provocational Research Conference (R-D-PRC) is a biennial 1-4-day meeting where leading scientists exchange and present novel findings and discuss challenging research issues. The 2019 R-D-PRC generally gathers around 400 attendees, including graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. The meeting provides a forum for researchers who share a common interest in retinal degenerative disorders to network, learn about the latest research and discuss therapeutic strategies for patients. Topics include retinal development, pathogenesis, therapy, clinical manifestations, animal models and ophthalmic imaging. Fundamental and clinical research are both welcome.
Since 1983, the annual ARVO meetings have been held to promote vision research and patient care. ARVO is a nonprofit, scientific organization for ophthalmic research scientists and clinicians. It is the largest association of eye and vision researchers in the world. The current membership of ARVO consists of approximately 21,000 individuals from Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, UK, USA and Vietnam. ARVO also supports approximately 100,000 participants annually at the ARVO surveys, conferences and meetings. ARVO's mission is to support and enhance the vision research community through a Fellowship & Career Mentoring Program. ARVO's activities are carried out by the members, technical staff, volunteers, and expert advisors of the ARVO Foundation. The annual ARVO meeting is a vital forum for communicating and advancing the state-of-the-art in clinical and basic ophthalmology, and provides a unique opportunity to exchange the latest results from basic and clinical science in this field.
