It's also the most platform-challenged, and for most people the combination of unsurpassed power and confusing interface bugs can result in a frustrating experience. The Mac OS X operating system - while possibly overused -isn't easily dismissed. Mac OS X was designed to make tools and applications programmable through scripting, and make searching for them easy. It succeeds at this aim in spectacular fashion: out of the box, developer tools and utilities come bundled and well-organised. This is not how we were taught in our programming classes, but many developers are starting to understand the advantages: you get integrated access to tools you might not have otherwise found. So is Mac OS X the absolute worst thing to happen to software developers since MS Windows? Like anything else there's a trade-off, and it's one we have yet to make.
While providing clean and easy-to-use tools for developing and deploying applications is one of the most important features of the Mac OS X platform, there's another kind of platform that many developers care just as much about: stability. Don't worry if you haven't been using it in the past, it worked fine for six years before you bought it. Learn to live with the bugs, learn to like them, learn to work with them to make your life easier. The last thing you should be doing is trying to fight them with application patches.
