The world is so vast, with so many cities. In a way, the 2012fantasy RPG Final Fantasy XIII was a vast expanse of the map strung together by music and missions with horrible battles and next to no interaction with NPCs--but it was also pretty cool. Skies and seas and entire continents!
Dwarf Fortress is a funny game -- like, "hilarious" funny. I'll start by saying it's a terrible game. I mean, it just wants to be funny, like a bunch of comedians sitting around comparing a criminal to Dwarf Fortress. But it's not a terrible game: it's just an exceptionally niche one.
Dungeon crawler games are a great way to take in the feeling of being lost in a labyrinth while also playing a game about labyrinths. Can't beat that combo! If you've got access to a decent Android tablet, try out Dungeon Diggers HD from Riep, while you're waiting for the Steam version.
