I'm using microcontroller C18 with picbasic as my IDE. I just updated my computer to windows 10 and I decided to try MPLAB for the first time. To my understanding, MPLAB is basically the same as picbasic except that it uses the c18 compiler for microcontroller programming. This is my first time using MPLAB and this is my first time using microcontroller programming with a compiler that can be used with a microcontroller.
p.s. To other users that are new to picbasic 2.5 pro, there was a error here that I can't find. I can't select from the drop down list, the option to select a directory, it is greyed out and can't select it. Any Ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks for your reply. Yes I think I have the MPLAB IDE but I do not have it installed. I think I just have picbasic 2.5 pro installed on my system and I am using the embedded programming and debugging support of the PIC18F4550 microcontroller. Perhaps I should try installing the MPLAB IDE?
Hello, I have used PICC18 for years with picbasic, plus some pic micro controllers like PIC16F,
and then PIC18F and now PIC24F, and then I have used the PIC microcontroller IDE that comes with
MPLAB C, etc. So I have used PIC18.
Some applications, such as Java, require that the application directories and libraries are updated to a newer version before the user can update. However, there are some applications that are not explicitly API-specific, such as the X Window System, the X server source code, are automatically updated as required.
